Pep Guardiola fights with cameraman again after Manchester City win
City secured a hard-fought win in their Boxing Day Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium. Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring in the 48th minute after receiving a through ball from Rayan Cherki. Nottingham Forest responded quickly, with Omari Hutchinson equalising just six minutes later. Cherki then restored City’s lead in the 84th minute, scoring the decisive goal.
As the final whistle sounded, Guardiola walked towards the stands to acknowledge the home fans. During the celebration, he was seen gesturing angrily at a cameraman, repeatedly waving his hand to signal that the camera should move away. The Spaniard then stared directly at the cameraman until he stepped back, before turning his attention to applauding the City supporters.
This is not the first time Guardiola has clashed with broadcast staff this season. In last month’s match against Newcastle, the City manager was caught on camera pulling a cameraman’s headset while speaking to him. Guardiola later issued a public apology for the incident.
“I apologised. I feel embarrassed and ashamed when I see it. I don’t like it,” Guardiola said at the time. “I apologised after one second to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games, I’m not a perfect person - I make mistakes.”
The win over Forest was an important one for Manchester City in the Premier League title race. The victory briefly sent Guardiola’s side to the top of the table before Arsenal reclaimed first place with a 2-1 win over Brighton. Arsenal now lead the league with 42 points, while City sit just two points behind. Aston Villa are also close behind City, trailing them by only one point.
Manchester City have now completed their fixtures for 2025. Their next match will be away to Sunderland on New Year’s Day, followed by home games against Chelsea on 5 January, Brighton on 8 January, and Exeter on 10 January. All three of those fixtures will be played at the Etihad Stadium.
